Why choose an oak dining table?
- Oak is a popular wood type for dining tables, kitchen tables, meeting tables and café tables.
- Oak is strong and durable. As a hardwood, it is ideal for daily use and built to last.
- Oak is easy to work with, allowing for different finishes such as lacquer, oil and whitewash.
- It has a natural look and a light tone that combines well with other materials.
- An oak table adds character to your interior. The warm tone and visible grain bring a sense of balance to any space, whether your style is modern, industrial, Scandinavian, bohemian or vintage.
- Oak is timeless and a solid investment that you will enjoy for years.
Finish: lacquer or oil?
An oak table has a timeless character and keeps its appearance over time. The right finish plays an important role. You can choose between a matte lacquer, oil or whitewash finish. In this article we explain the differences, advantages and disadvantages of each finish.
Table with an oiled finish
An oiled finish enhances the natural look of the wood, bringing out the warm tone and grain. An oiled oak table has the most natural appearance, but does require some care. Regular maintenance keeps the table in good condition and is easy to do yourself.
An oiled oak table is more sensitive to moisture and heat than a lacquered table. Use coasters to protect the surface.
A whitewash oak dining table has the same characteristics as an oiled table, but with a lighter tone. This gives the table a calm look. If you are looking for a light oak table, whitewash is a good option.
Table with a matte lacquer finish
You can also choose a matte lacquer finish. This protects the wood and gives it a subtle sheen. A lacquered table requires little maintenance and is more resistant to moisture, as liquids remain on the surface layer.
